Just me or...?

This is something that has happened to me from time to time since I was in my twenties. Ive never heard anyone else describe anything like it so wondering if it is just me. If you look in a mirror for a few minutes do you ever get the feeling that you are separate from the image you're viewing? Almost as if you don't really recognise the person in the mirror as 'you'. Then if you continue to look, you begin to feel freaked out and a bit fearful?
Fully prepared for the fact that this might just be me Confused

I totally get the sensation you're describing OP, it's really unsettling & I intentionally avoid it. I find the same reaction happens with any kind of reflection. Always thought it was just me :/

Thanks for responding SEE, I feel somewhat reassured that it's not just me, we must come from the same tribe Grin. I tried to describe it to my husband once and he looked at me like I was mad. And I know what you mean, I tend to avoid it too..

Yeah this happens to me. You should look up glitch in the matrix, that's an interesting rabbit hole!

Sounds like it could be a type of dissociation? Can be unpleasant but not something to worry about.

Me too. 24/7. Love it.

I get it when I look at some other people (usually on TV) but haven't noticed it looking in the mirror.
