I make street lights flicker switch off when i walk past (not all the time though) i quite often set car alarms off, by simply being near them, and my radio in car and home detunes itself when i walk in the room, i VERY VERY frequently shock myself and people just by touching, and i always always get a shock from my car when i get in when i get out from touching the door, boot, even the windows - i had to take my new car to the garage recently as i got a shock through the window and the whole thing collapsed into the door panel, i have had this since about 14 years old and it went away when i got pregnant with my first child and then i went on to have 2 more children all quite close together however, when my last child got to 8 months old, it has started up again and is just as bad as ever, i cant really talk to people about it here because they think im being abit weird, so i dont bring it up, but i did tell the garage when i took it on and he said it shouldnt do that, it doesnt to dp or my kids, just me, i think he thought i was lying, its just so bizarre can anyone give me the slightest clue as to what the hell it is, or how i can get rid or help reduce it or anything, its getting worse and worse!! HELP!

well listen, I also build up static electricity when I drive, they I close the car door and bang. see it as a gift and not a burden. hey you are not weird but special.
are you religious?

Try wearing shoes with rubber soles. I often used to get the static electricity thing on the car too. Pain in the finger tips IMO.

madamez · 05/11/2007 20:37

It's a high level of static electricity. Try googling it and you might get some practical suggestions. (I have heard of this condition elsewhere, it does exist, though it's unusual).

Depending on your own outlook, it may comfort you to think of it as some kind of supernatural spiritual thing, and there are probaly organisations that would think of it as such, but if you're of the agnositc mindset, bear in mind that alleged spiritually meaningful manifestations are usually supposed to do something a little bit more comprehensible and useful than just inconvenience you.

oh this is me
yes change your shoes. I do always have to remember not to touch lift switches etc. and wear long sleeves to pull down over my hands for touching things

the street light thing used to really freak me out, but was also quite fun

I have to say it does still happen to me if I wear rubber soled shoes, just not as badly!
