Delicatish question re:admission to Jewish schools

TotalChaos · 30/10/2007 21:49

If I was to apply for DS to go to a Jewish school (I'm Jewish, DH not), would it matter that he hadn't had a bris?

Apologies if this seems an out of order query, I am genuine, honest!

tentative bump for the daytime crowd.

it is not the bris that makes you jewish, it is the lineage, and it follows the mothers blood line...

not be much call for him to get his willy out at school, i shouldn;t think..

i think you have to have a ketuba though

stripeymama · 31/10/2007 09:29

My dad's side of the family are Jewish so I will ask him later. But tbh I can't see how it would matter - or how they need to know. I mean they are hardly going to insist on looking - if they did then I personally wouldn't send a child there anyway!

Wil post dad's answer later.

Many thanks. I do realise that the lineage is important, was just concerned that DS not having had a bris would be a sticking point. Things would get very fiddly re:ketubah - as my mum wasn't married when she had me (has married a jewish man now though, not my father), so it may end up having to be my gran's ketubah .

anyhoo, hope you get sorted

further cheeky question to Lulu - don't suppose you have any knowledge on the grapevine as to how good Liverpool KD are with children with special needs?

i can find out for you

stripeymama · 31/10/2007 09:34

Dad's (vague and wooly) answer is that it probably depends on the school.

VoodooLULUmama · 31/10/2007 09:35

what sort of SN?

TotalChaos · 31/10/2007 09:35

many thanks Lulu. I will of course call them up myself to try and suss it out.

language delay (both understanding and expressive). DS is very behind with his language. Could possibly be mild ASD. Behaviour and socially he is pretty good, keen to do what the other kids are doing.

Grew up in Childwall & Aigburth

Went to Aigburth Vale - the year it became a comp (now is it Calderstones?)
