Christian advent calendars...

Hi, my mother in law has made a lovely fabric advent calendar for my children - it has little pockets intended to put chocolates or sweets in. I want to skip the chocolate (don't tell my children!) And use it to help them spiritually prepare... I thought of a prayer card or image or something but a bit stuck for ideas and have 24 pockets to fill !! My children are 3.5 and a baby who's nearly 1.

Would love any suggestions !

Thank you

Maybe a little picture of various "characters" from the Christmas story and something super short to read about said character? Have somewhere that the characters can build up as they're collected to build up a nativity scene?

We have this , and it doesn't matter that my brothers and I are all adults now; we still get very possessive over whose "turn" it is to take each character out and where everything goes.

Thank you! Characters are a good idea... Might try and find a nativity set with little pieces then can set it up one piece a day...

If you have some money to put to it, the playmobil nativity is gorgeous.

Could you type up the Christmas story, you might be able to find an online version with pictures, cut it into 24 parts and put them in the pockets? They children could stick them on a nice piece of card, or in a notebook every day and on Christmas Day you'll have a poster/book of the Christmas story.

I'd include a small piece of chocolate or a sweet as well though:)
