Have you ever felt someone has put a hex on you

Everything that has gone wrong this year, has.

I won't go into detail as it's outing but it genuinely feels like it's non stop at the minute. One thing happens before the other thing has even stopped happening. I hate drama and am generally anxious anyway so add this all and I'm waiting for the ground to cave in.

Anyway, at a car garage earlier discussing my problems with the car and I made a joke that it's probably just me and she asked me if I'm being jinxed and has someone put a jinx on me. I said it would be fair if they had. As I get more frustrated I'm quicker to temper and sometimes an absolute bitch. She said I need to pray it away and wish it back to the person that sent it.

I just smiled and nodded but now I keep thinking it could be a thing.

Have I lost my final fragment of sense or could it be a thing?

I couldn't say if someone has put a hex on you but I'm starting to feel the same. Nothing but bad news and pain this year for my family. I have a nasty neighbour married to a total narcissist ( a whole other thread ) who thinks she's a shaman and I'm starting to wonder if she's put some kind of spell on us. Interested to hear ideas to change the energy !

BananaLlamaConCalma · 26/10/2020 14:11

Sorry you're going through it to! A sharman! Massive eye roll from me there but then I'm the one who just raised a thread about hex's.

People are horrible. I see why some people like to live like hermits.

Yay, I found the interesting bit of MN.

Rather than thinking of hexes, think about the energy you are giving out. So if you're feeling irritable, angry, upset, frustrated etc. it's easier for things to go wrong, you are not functioning as efficiently as you might be, so things pile on top of other things, you feel overwhelmed and you get into a spiral.

Also Mercury, ruler of transport (cars) messages and communication, is coming out of retrograde at the moment - no don't laugh, I've been tracking planetary retrogrades for years. Noticing the patterns helps you deal with things more patiently, as you remember nothing lasts for ever. 2020 has been a big long series of retrogrades, more than usual. By mid-November these retrogrades will nearly all be over, so our energy should flow better.

Take whatever space you need to clear your head. If you do things calmly you will attract more calm to you. Focus on whatever is positive, no matter how small. It's magnetic.

As for the "shaman" neighbour, she is not genuine. Real shamanic work is mostly about clearing negative energy, not hexing people.

bigpurplefuryknickers · 07/11/2020 13:50

Yes!!
I had a friend who played about with crystals, candle magic & the universe all was good until I saw a different side to him (I had been warned) and I backed away. I had a run of really shitty luck that was very unusual for me & me family. anyway, I realised that just before I backed off he had given me some crystals. I know that they can be very powerful (if you believe in all that which I do) I got rid of the crystals, smudged my home and instantly our luck changed. I believe he had hexed me as that's what I've seen him to others when he couldn't get his own way!

Try to keep your vibe positive.

TheSandman · 07/11/2020 14:02

On the other hand instead of all this 'poor me' childish magical wishing bullshit could it just possibly be that everyone is having a bit shit time at the moment what with Ecological disaster/ Covid / Brexit / Fuckwit egocentric politicians running things?

Solution? Stop burning sage and rubbing crystals on your belly buttons and hoping - and get out there and DO something. Get active. Get involved. Start picking up the garbage and make the world a better place for everyone.

Alys20 · 09/11/2020 18:49

Why read these spirituality threads, Sandman, if you're just going to belittle people's opinions without knowing your subject? Surely you'd need to know a lot about crystals before you could dismiss them based on clichéd put-downs?

LaMainDeFatima · 09/11/2020 18:56

Definitely a thing ; we call it the evil eye. You need to get a Turkish eye in your house or a hand of Fatima

TheSandman · 09/11/2020 20:48

@Alys20

Crystals do not have magic powers. They don't harmonise or resonate with chakras or channel chi or any of the other wonderful things woo. They're just lattices of regular staked molecules. Some of them are very pretty. People can convince themselves of anything if they try hard enough and avoid any evidence that doesn't support what they want to believe. I do not need to know the ins and outs of a belief system to know bullshit when I see it. Crystal magic is as 'real' as rumpology , or phrenology, or haruspication or any of the other thousand and one pseudosciences people have deluded themselves with over the ages. Do I have to become an expert in each one of them, one by one, to tell you they're all bullshit too?

And FYI I didn't cruise the 'spirituality' threads looking for someone to troll. This post came up in the Active Threads list. I responded. I didn't realise there was a whole woo section on Mumsnet.

I shall do my best to avoid it future.

TheSandman · 09/11/2020 20:49

stacked not 'staked'.

Alys20 · 10/11/2020 06:48

Of course crystals aren't magic. Nobody said they were. As for the rest of your post, it's clear you have no idea what you're talking about. Just because you've never tried energy healing and don't understand it doesn't mean it's ineffective.

Strange that someone would get so riled about gullible idiots talking BS though🤭

thesunwillout · 10/11/2020 07:26

Very riled.

OwlOne · 10/11/2020 07:34

You can have a run of bad luck. And there might well be somebody rubbing their hands in glee.

Ive had some shit times! You have all of my sympathies.

I ask myself "will this mattter in 5 years?" 2 years? 1 year? And then stop when you get to the time period where it will still matter. Then reframe it as "i will have this sorted out in less than 6 months".

I know telling you to reframe it probably sounds very annoying. But when you have a lot of shit hitting the fan, categorise it. Big turds. Little turds.

I saw therapist in june, july & aug. Self care. Extreme self care. Sometimes a bath and a scented candle is not going to hit the spot.

It will pass. It will be mostly ok in the end.

OwlOne · 10/11/2020 07:37

Ps i do believe in energy. Bringing in what you put out. Mostly. That doesnt ward off cancer or car accidents tbough.

Im working my way through gabrielle bernstein right now. But i decided first i needed to underpin the scaffolding. Old issues. I cant replace judgement with love when im still smarting at the way some body behaved.

OwlOne · 10/11/2020 07:48

@bigpurplefuryknickers i enjoy these discussions, but i think the advice to keep your vibe positive skips a few steps that have to come first. See your own wounds. See your own blinds spots. Confront them. Treat yourself. Heal. Recovery. Get out of your comfort zone. And then make yr energy peace, love, contentment. If you cant do that, go back over the steps to look after yourself.

I was forced to be positive and i didnt attract secure grounded authentic people in to my life.

So, reframe things as you go along yes. "This gives me the opportunity to see how resilient i am".

Sometimes your inner self just stamps its foot and wont let you reframe. Sometimes it says ok dejectedly "but give me a week to feel sad first' then ill see about reframing.

Im constantly dialoging with myself. My lips move as well! 😁

SedentaryCat · 10/11/2020 07:53

Yep. Been hexed, cursed, or whatever. Long and boring story as to why but nothing actually to do with me, just someone thinking they should be in my place and live my life. Took a lot of unpicking to get to the meat of it.

Anyway, it's pretty easy to turn a curse around - do what works for you. Candle magic is pretty good. I used a binding spell.

You also have to take steps in the mundane - if you know who it is, block them everywhere you can and all variations of their name. Take the power away from them.

And yes, agree that everyone is having a crappy time at the moment - could just be that. But there's no harm in visualising the negative energy flowing away from you and inviting positive energy in.

blindinglyobviouslight · 10/11/2020 07:58

Why you get a run of bad things then its quite normal to think like this. Humans are wired to find patterns and causations.

I personally find it better to look for ways I can change my own situation than relying on charms or magic though. Its been important for me to realise I have agency over my own life.

Tadpolesandfroglets · 10/11/2020 08:05

I believe simply you get back what you give out therefore if you are giving out negative energy that’s what comes back. Maybe try and stop behaving like an ‘absolute bitch’ and put out some positive stuff instead?

sparklepink · 10/11/2020 08:08

Mumsnet is probably not the best place to ask if you're veering towards believing in that stuff! Lots of non-believers here who will poo poo what you believe in. I personally believe in that stuff myself, try Reddit - a spirituality or witchcraft subreddit will give you more info about hexs and how to break etc .

SnackBitch2020 · 10/11/2020 08:12

Curses only work if you believe in them, think about it.
I too believed many years ago that I was cursed as my life was so bad. After some reflection I realised that life is often shit and I had made some poor choices that contributed to my problems.
I'm not suggesting any of this is at fault by the way, more that a curse is maybe a way of explaining things that there is no real reason for.

SnackBitch2020 · 10/11/2020 08:12

*blaming a curse is...

EmeraldShamrock · 10/11/2020 08:25

If you haven't done anything really bad I'd put it out of your mind as I believe a hex is like karma.
I had a disastrous 2 years it has been 3 years since and things have improved by miles it was terrifying.
I mean everything that could have went wrong and worse was happening I was anxious and depressed ATT which made things worse.
I'm from a generation of superstitious people. Put it out of your mind. Smile
Concentrate on your anxiety and clear thinking.

EmeraldShamrock · 10/11/2020 09:56

Make a conscious effort to be nicer you definitely get what you give.

TheSandman · 10/11/2020 17:02

Just because you've never tried energy healing and don't understand it doesn't mean it's ineffective.

Nice logic. So to follow that line of thought. Is haruspication - the ancient art of disembowelling animals and poking their entrails with a stick - a valid way of predicting the future?

No. Of course it's not. It's obvious bullshit.

But, by your argument, how do you know? You haven't tried it.... etc.

If it looks smells and feels like bullshit you don't need to know which cow's arse it fell out of to identify it as such.

Alys20 · 10/11/2020 17:48

Wow Sandman you really are angry, aren't you?

If you want to compare chalk and cheese and call it logic, then you're free to do that.

Energy healing has nothing to do with predicting the future, and it's possible to ask the person who had the healing how they felt afterwards, unlike the unfortunate disembowelled animal. Obviously you know my life experiences and those of 1000s of others who've benefited hugely from energy healing, better than I or they do.

TheSandman · 10/11/2020 18:54

Not angry. Rational.

Ok, let's not disembowel animals. How about Rumpology? Is that a real way to do character analysis?

occult-world.com/rumpology/

No, it's just standard vague platitude delivering cold-reading bullshit. based on the shape of people's arses.

Energy healing is just wishing and relaxation. Nothing wrong with that. Personally listening to some Bach cello music does the same for me. Whatever turns you on. Just don't tell me it's anything other than a placebo.
