Yom Kippur

In perspective to what's going on all over the world, I know IABU... but I feel heartbroken that we cannot go to synagogue on Yom Kippur. Nor on any of the High Holidays.

Not to pray together, not to fast together, not to eat together, not to blow shofar together, not to look after each other's children so that all can participate.

How are others dealing with this?

Nobody else gearing up for a strangely quiet Yamim Noraim?

We are relieved it will be quiet, the busynesss at shul on rh and yk is unpleasant at the best of times. Many communities are blowing the shofar tonight at 5.30 on doorsteps which I think is a lovely initiative. Shana tova and well over the fast

I haven't been to shul in donkeys' but it's going to be really weird for the regulars. My shul does services online, but we're Reform - I'm not sure how it works if you're Orthodox.

Shana tovah and let's hope this year sucks less than the last one, eh?

I'm feeling the same Sad

Pre-COVID I was a regular shul-goer, and always looked forward to the high holidays. When I got pregnant in December I was extra excited, as I would be able to introduce to baby to everyone.

My Reform shul is just doing services on Zoom, but the orthodox shuls are open so DH has been able to go in person (he's halakhically Jewish; I'm not)

Tough times. I didn't realise how much shul meant to me until I couldn't go anymore!

G'mar chatima tovah and good luck with the fast, those of you who are doing it (I'm exempted for medical reasons).
