Just taken ds to his first ever church service...

And it was rather nice. Only problem is Sunday Club did the parable of the Lost Sheep and he kept running away and hiding all the way home... towards a main road. And all the kids thought it was much more fun to pretend to be lost sheep than to be found, so suspect the teacher didn't quite get the right message across. Do you think I should have a word with her about 4yos?

It's weird doing this rediscovering the church thing, though. Am v. rusty.

Glad your ds had a good time. Did you get anything out of the service yourself or did you not expect to?

That's great Edam! You can pretty much guarantee 100% that whatever Bible story you choose, the 4 yos will get the wrong end of the stick...!

I can sympathise on the "rediscovering church" thing, as a returnee myself. If you've got any questions on why things are done that way, then I'm sure people here will be willing to help.

If you get the chance to mention what happened on the way home, I don't think it would do any harm... after all, just think what it'd be like if they did something like "Cain and Abel"!

Yes, DutchOma, I'm going back because I want to, IYKWIM, but was also particularly special taking ds who has never been to a proper service - only one wedding IIRC.

Ds loved it and wants to go again next week. Which is fab. On the way home, he said to me: 'God is in my heart, Mummy'. Which was rather surprising as I'm sure those words weren't acually used in the service, or in Sunday Club. But very sweet.

Mary, ds is an only child, so I think we'd be OK with Cain and Abel. No idea about the others, though.

Our kids often get the wrong end of the stick. I dread to think what they'd do with Cain & Abel.

Our best one though was taking dd to a soft play. There was a lady at the next table who clearly had a child who had perfected selective deafness. She was yelling 'Nooooo- aaaah, Nooooo- ahhhh" and dd2 turned round to me and said "That boy gotta big boat?" I thought I was going to wet myself (after 3 large babies, a constant possibility!)

It feels kind of wierd, tbh, but good-weird. I think.
