Really? No live streamed Easter service just because they think we might be tempted to go to the churches.

Was anybody actually planning on doing this?

Do they mean that C of E clergy are not allowed to live stream from their own churches. As they are currently not allowed it them? Fortunately the RC church is still
Allowing clergy into their churches, so all live streaming is done there.

That link didn't work for me. As I've had the emails I can confirm there will be no live streaming or prerecording from C of E churches. There will however be loads of services conducted from Vicarage studies and gardens. It's going to be a challenge but I'm starting to record tomorrow so that I can upload services for Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

My C of E church is holding the service over zoom! From the vicars house.

There was even some debate about us using the bread and wine we have in our houses 😂

Patchworksack · 08/04/2020 21:47

My dickhead MP Jack Lopresti has taken to Twitter to opine that all churches should be open for prayer over Easter weekend. Thankfully the clergy have more sense and will be speaking to us from their respective homes.

waltzingparrot · 08/04/2020 21:48

Will there be one broadcast on TV?

Most vicars I've got on social media have been doing their services from their homes and gardens, only briefly checking on church for security reasons. I have noticed it's hard to upload/stream on a Sunday morning on Facebook, I guess it's a popular time! We've been uploading and scheduling (on behalf of our vicar) it seems to work well.

mostlydrinkstea · 08/04/2020 21:54

I don't have tv listings but the BBC are supposed to be doing one. I've been watching the C of E service on Sunday mornings which arrives on my FB feed as I follow their page. It has been very well done and I've appreciated being part of the congregation as I've been uploading my service the night before.

waltzingparrot · 09/04/2020 06:35

It's the bbc service I'm concerned about as most of our elderly congregation are worshipping via this. Although the hymns are old recordings to give a congregation singing, the service was live, wasn't it?

The BBC broadcast is 11.25 on Sunday - it's a mix of material recorded for the day interspersed with hymns from previous editions of Songs of Praise.

Toddlerteaplease · 09/04/2020 23:09

For those who want proper liturgy in church. The RC church is live streaming the tridium. Most of our cathedrals and many many parishes are doing it.

Madhairday · 09/04/2020 23:21

We're doing it from homes and gardens, stitching a lot of videos together so lots of people are involved in the services then broadcasting it all on FB live with song lyrics (we purchased the licence) and liturgy etc on screen. It's worked really well so far and is very well received including from many elderly members of our congregation. We also put it on YouTube and our website and dh is recording it on dvd for those who don't access it online at all. No need to do it from a church - we should be firmly supporting the stay home, save lives message.

oncemorewithfeeling99 · 09/04/2020 23:25

The vast, vast majority of C of E clergy are live-streaming or hosting zoom or YouTube from their homes. There will be loads of online services to choose from.

oncemorewithfeeling99 · 09/04/2020 23:25

No need to be in the church building.

PorpentinaScamander · 09/04/2020 23:28

We've been having zoom services in our pajamas from our own homes. We have a lot of musical members in the congregation so we've even had life music like usual rather than recordings.

It's rather lovely.

larry55 · 12/04/2020 10:24

We have a live service from our Methodist church - we also had a Maundy Thursday service and also a Good Friday Service.
