Is my vicar asking too much for money?

My vicar likes to make sure the collection plate is passed around more than once. It always makes me uncomfortable. Has anyone felt their vicar was a little too keen on fundraising? What did you do?

More than once during a service ?
Without any explanation as to one being for Church funds and one a special collection for {insert recent disaster} ?

I would call 'fundraising' when you arrange events to raise funds (coffee morning, jumble sale, etc)

Talk to them? Switch to a direct debit and ignore the plate?

It is a bit unusual. We have a collection for the church during the second hymn as this is all the money we have to keep the church running. There is another collection for a designated charity each month but we just leave a plate at the door and about 10% of people will donate on average.

I'd just split what I give between the two plates.

How much is HE putting in ?

totally normal in my childhood Catholic Church!

I would give some money in a collection, but passing it around once is cheeky/guilt tripping.

Just put half in the first time round.

It,s a bit silly really as a lot of people give monthly donations or direct debits. Once is def enough. Not been in a church that does it twice.
