I'm not thinking of changing religion or anything it's just since seeing Tom Cruise on Parky and how strongly he defended it has made me curious. I thought Parky was very rude to him to be honest, would he get away with saying such things about any other religion?

Religion and politics, always going to cause an argument.

Bunglie, I quoted something my mum had said and if you read the next messages this (GPs)is put right

I only asked what people knew about the religion in question.

Sorry....I knew I should read it all and keep out of this one

Oh and the 7th Day Adventists do believe in using doctors but the Christian Scientists will not see a doctor but have their own 'practioners' and believe that all healing is done through the power of prayer.

Just being brought up by Christian Science parents I was forever being 'accused' of being a Scientologist which IS very different

Sorry...but now I will keep out.

I am really Sorry Juniperdrop, but I am forever putting my foot in it today....trod on a snail earlier with only socks on!

JuniperDewdrop · 20/09/2004 16:52

cheers for that Bunglie. Wish I could hear more about it as I bet you have some fascinating stories.
I'm a Christian and have had to defend my religion on a number of occasions. In fact I bought a book whilst in the States that helps with the questions, I should get reading it

I really wish I hadn't asked about scientology now, should've listened to my niggling doubt.

sorry about the poor snail though

juniper,

never feel bad about asking questions... how else do we learn?

as it happens, i believe scientologists prefer to find fellows who are doctors, especially where mental health is concerned (absolute abhorance (sp?) to psychs).

i have known CS's on the same interfaith forum as the LDS and SCN, i also know a CS on another forum i go to now.

you can learn so much from other people, i enjoy hearing their views. before i went to interfaiths, i knew so little about world religions... even within christians there are so many different sects and none of them agree with each other !

live, listen, learn and grow... but always with tolerance
