I've done a bit of dream interpretation with success before,
It's interesting that both dreams are lucid, that you know you're dreaming during the dreams. I don't know if this is usual for you?
Lucid dreaming involves heightened awareness, they tend to come during a time in life when you are alert to your surroundings, living in the here and now, issues of the past and present are not as relevant, eg during a period of learning or dramatic change, familiarising yourself with the unfamiliar.
If you have lucid dreams all the time, it usually indicates a very alert and aware personality, high intellect, strong sense of spirituality.
It's lovely that you hugged your mum during your lucid dream. This is a wonderful and really positive dream, it predicts good luck and suggests you have made a wise choice (or choices) with good foresight that is to benefit you greatly in the near future.
To dream of a passed mother indicates matters of intuition, "gut feeling" / instinct and the hug indicates a positive choice.
You are also clearly thinking of her a lot coming up to an anniversary of her death, I am so sorry for your loss.
The death dream is very interesting. Don't worry. It's again rather positive particularly the lucid element, where you went back into your dream to tell your husband that he will wake up. I'll try to interpret,
Firstly death almost always represents change, the end of an era, new beginnings.
The circumstances surrounding death in your dream are very interesting, a world where an excess population is skimmed off, the population in your dream represents issues of thoughts and ideas, and the killing off represents a purification of these thoughts and ideas, I think perhaps these are worries you have. The children are spared but the adults are culled, the children are playing, blissfully unaware, but the adults are all too knowlegable and aware, some are calmly accepting, you are angry.
This I think can be interpreted to mean that you are unconsciously attempting to cull your mind of thoughts that are based more on learned knowledge, and aiming to focus on or listen more to the childlike playful emotional or instinctive part of you during this period of change indicated by the dream theme of death.
Both dreams together have a strong theme of listening to and going with your intuition, rather than relying on intellect.
I wonder if you are having a problem with over-thinking at the moment. Your dreams both suggest you are getting frustrated with thinking or knowing too much, and you will benefit from trusting your emotions.
