Would anyone like to join me in a favourite hymn/ chorus thread?

Mine is Let all Mortal Flesh keep Silence, which comes immediately after my dh's - Just as I am.
It would be nice to hear others'

I like Holy, Holy, Holy; I think it's the chord changes. Think there are two scores it's sung to though.

For me it is "Morning has broken", partly because I liked singing it at school, but mainly it was one of my lovely Grannie's favourites.

My favourites are "the king of love my shepherd is", " lord of all faithfulness, lord of all joy" and "when a knight won his spurs". (I have recently started going back to church and really happy to have found this section of mumsnet)

Charlie bong - I’ve just seen your post. So weird the hymns you listed are my favourite too, only difference is I prefer be thou my vision to the tune of Lord of all faithfulness.

Oh and be careful on this section! It’s not all love, peace and joy unfortunately

I love most of the classics, as posted above, not so much for the words but the memories and emotions they evoke.

I love the stirring sounds of 'Onward Christian Soldiers' but it feels wrong to say those words nowadays.

One not mentioned so far is this:

Thank you for the thread. I had forgotten how much I love hymns.

I'm an atheist but raised Catholic and I I love hymns! I miss them so much now that I don't go to church.

My favourite is probably As gentle as silence, though I haven't ever heard a particularly good recording of it. The words are so beautiful and just make me wish I believed.

Hills of the North Rejoice - loved the words, hate the tune (too,slow and ponderous)

I love the Angel Gabriel from Heaven Came as well. Also Hills of the North Rejoice (but not keen on the new words).

My favourite is 'Father, hear the prayer we offer' but I also like 'Immortal invisible God only wise'.

So many favourites I can't list them. The complete New English hymnal is my favourite play list on iTunes.

“This is my body broken for you.” Sang it at my First Holy Communion and still makes me so emotional every time I hear/sing it.

My favourite older one is Make Me A Channel of Your Peace.

A fairly new one I love that we sing at church from time to time is Let Love Be Real by Michael Forster.

There is one of Stuart Townend's that I only heard of Songs of Praise called Vagabonds that I wish we sang (and lived).

There is a hope by Stuart Townend. I’ll have it at my funeral (hopefully not any time soon)
