DDs Confirmation

My DD is getting confirmed at this weekend and I would appreciate some thoughts to pass on to her. I came to Christianity quite late and did a lot of soul-searching but because my daughter was brought up in it I feel she is a bit "that's just what we do" about it all. If you have anything to make her think more deeply I would appreciate it.

Ask her if she believes any of it, and why. Questioning is the road to salvation.

How old is your daughter? I was confirmed at 21 which is quite late. My children were 14ish when they were confirmed but I've seen it done younger.

What to pass on.

Faith changes and there will be times when everything seems certain and clear and there will be times when it isn't. This is normal.

Keep praying. There are times when it all seems certain and clear and there are times when it isn't. This is normal. There is a book called the Teenage Prayer Experiment which may help here.

Keep asking questions.

Christianity is about relationship and that isn't easy.

The church and its ministers are not perfect and will make mistakes.

Enjoy the day. It is a stage on the journey of faith and we never stop learning and exploring.

She is eleven. She does believe, but I suppose as she gets older she may ask more questions.
