SPIRIT GUIDES

...following on from lulu's thread.

HOw many of us have them and how did you find out about them?

I have one. a man. who is a distant relation i believe. This is how i found him...

we were at a friend's cabin. playing with () a ouija board. a message came on for me from someone called O.S. he said that he wanted me to write. as in he wanted to write through me. i god really scared and wouldn't do it.

(as an aside my dad is really into this spiritual stuff - despite being devout RC - and had told me about Automatic Writing a few weeks earlier)

so one night i had a pen and paper and just relaexed my hand and it started to move. My guide introduced himself as O.S.
a whie later when i met my now-husband my guide said 'you finally met him'

ok. now it's your turn. what's your experiences?

i don't know if i really do believe in all this, but since my grandma died in 2000, i sometimes do feel like she's still around. i was with her when she died, and it was at that moment i decided to have children after previously not being that bothered either way, so for me, she lives on in both dd and ds.

a few weeks after she died i dreamt about her, that she walked into the room, sat down and held my hand. then i woke up, with my arm outstretched, and it really did feel like there was someones hand in mine.

We apparently (i believe) all have spirit guides.. They guide us, support us and are with us throught out our life.

Surfermum · 30/04/2007 15:14

My Nan is one of mine and is helping me with developing my psychic abilities. I've been told by 2 or 3 people that she's around, but I've just done a course to learn how to tune in and during one of the exercises I saw her.

On the course we were practicing on each other and the man I was paired with picked up a Quaker lady for me. I've no idea who she is, but maybe she's one of my guides.

Hi purplemonkey, I've been in contact with mine for at least five years and the relationship has strengthened over time. I've also had new guides join me at various times. As I work as a psychic and tarot reader I always start before my readings inviting my guides to join me and it is through them I receive my messages to pass on. I have one guide who is a twin of mine from a past life, a man with no fingers(!) - I discovered this when I did a workshop on getting in touch with your guides and he was 'inside' my body and i felt as if I had no hands!, I also work with my Grandmother and great-grandmother who passed over years ago as well as a child who has attached herself to me and often encourages me to do miscevious things! I find it comforting to have their support and also i ask them to point me in the right direction and I always get the right answer.

SaintGeorge · 30/04/2007 19:08

clairvoyant, do you find different guides help you with different things? Like maybe one for your tarot and one for when spirit steps in at a psychic reading.

Mine all seem to come to me for specific tasks.

clairvoyant · 30/04/2007 20:46

Saintgeorge, kind of. If I need advice for myself then I tend to use my crystal ball and a different tarot deck than I 'd use for my clients, and get different smells, etc around me. I'm well aware when my gran is near me and she always seems to push me in the direction of doing an act of charity when I'm least likely to want to do it myself!

fransmom · 30/04/2007 21:20

hi stg and clairvoyant i think that guides are like teachers in schools, we have different teachers for different lessons so, it follows, that we have different guides for the different spiritual lessons that we have to learn. we can decide whether or not to go to class (as it were) and then whether or not we actually listen.

for instance, when i'm ironing my work trousers i always seem to have my great grandad around me who tries to get me to do a proper trouser crease (!) i also have an artistic guide that helped me learn to draw - tho i haven't done any for ages now.

SaintGeorge · 01/05/2007 10:10

fransmom, good description for the work of our guides.

I have an artistic guide, in fact I am lucky enough to have a picture of him courtesy of a psychic artist.

He is an artist from Victorian-era France. I know his name, but I never tell anyone it. It is nice confirmation when others tell me about him and can name him as well

He helps with all my art but most especially my psychic art. I suspect it is his hand that produces the work as the style is completely different from my own.

Rosylily · 01/05/2007 11:03

hmmm, it's interesting and I keep reading about this in various places at the moment and I'm being pestered from every angle to stop ignoring my spiritual side(...as I have been for a while.)
Is it always a good thing to be in touch with your guide(s) though? Do they want to be in touch? I know that I am carried at various times, but my life is already so full of the people I can see.
Saintgeorge-I am also an artist...but not practising (much) now because of the practicalities of life...but longing to get back to it. Won't feel right until I do.

fransmom · 02/05/2007 16:38

rosylily - i understand about the practicalities of life using all your time and in understand all too well the feeling of being pesterd to stop ignoring my spiritual side 2! i never feel completely comfortable in my skin - it's like i'm missing something important that's a huge part of me and i tend to get very down very easily when i've been ignoring that side of things.

i'm sorry but why am i getting the feeling that your naem should be rose-lily? most odd.

fransmom · 02/05/2007 16:40

ps please excuse my lack of manners stg! thank you very much for the compliment x

purplemonkeydishwasher · 02/05/2007 17:29

it's interesting that many of us with a guide or who are in tune with that type of thing are artists

OP posts:
fransmom · 02/05/2007 20:01

well i wouldn't quite call myself that but i do have an artisitc temperament

Rosylily · 03/05/2007 09:47

Fransmom rose and lily are from two separate names after a great granny and a nana.

Practising art is a spiritual thing for me. When I am flowing artistically, i feel inspired and in a different place outside myself. Alot of what i produce is abstract like a different language which only part of myself understands..not the conscious part.

Being creative and opening up my mind and imagination is so exciting -it's huge. But most of the time I am too busy to go there and it's hard to half be an artist... there's an all or nothing thing that holds me back because people need me. Balance! That's what I'm aiming for.....

fransmom · 04/05/2007 20:54

i feel like i'm on a continual see saw some days

FENNEKEPANS · 13/05/2007 15:10

how do you get in touch with your guide. can somebody guide me

3littlefrogs · 13/05/2007 16:35

There is a really good book by Mia Dolan in which she teaches a sceptical journalist how to develop her psychic skills and get in touch with her guide. I can't remember if it is "Mia's World" or "The Gift", but both are very good.

fransmom · 14/05/2007 20:26

ooh hang on a sec

fransmom · 14/05/2007 20:27

i think it's mia's world but dp has packed our books away cos case was unstable so can't check 100% sorry!

fairyM · 30/05/2007 20:44

It is, and it is a really great book. One way of getting to know your spirit guide is to ask. Sit quietly and say you would like to know who is your guide. Ask for a sign and you will know, if you aren't ready to actually see someone, as lets face it to see an image of someone standing before you could really freak you out, then they won't appear. You could also ask that your guide show themselves to you in your dreams and ask that you remember the dream.
It takes time and patience. Your guide is there constantly, they are the quiet little inner voice with you.
They know more than us if you are ready to start this journey with them. It is a journey and one of discovery. They will never scare you, but allow what is right for you to pass. Never fear your guide, they are there from birth, although I think they are there before that.
Hope this helps. Mia Dolan's book is great too!
