Due to recent events I am wanting to make some changes in my life. One of which is lack of self esteem. Can anyone recommend and books that could help me begin this process please? TIA

Don't know of any books as such, but a boost to self esteem can be gained through achievement. For example, if you take up a creative or sporting interest, maybe you could improve your performance by practice and/or or coaching, a class or one-to-one tuition. You would need to set yourself a measurable target eg I want to get into the ladies' tennis team, or have one of my pictures exhibited locally.

Or you might feel better about yourself by helping other people, perhaps through a charity. Some adult education places do specific classes on life coaching or assertiveness skills, that you might consider.

I don't know of any books either, but focussing on the positives is good. Write down everything that you are good at, even if it seems trivial - changing nappies, making a good cup of tea, anything - it's not trivial at all.

Then try writing down something you have done for someone else. How did you make that person feel?

Each day write down five things you have achieved that day, and five good things about yourself e.g. I have been a good listener today, I have worked hard, I have made a difference by..., I am taking control of my life.
