Hello anyone and everyone Smile. Please join us in saying Compline, or Night Prayer together. There are several versions, choose whichever you like.

Northumbria Community Compline

Church of England Common Worship Compline

Roman Catholic Compline

United Methodist Compline

Book of Common Prayer Compline

Podcast of Compline from St Mark's Cathedral, USA

Say whichever version you like, in your own time, between now and 10.30, and when you have finished perhaps come back here and post either Amen or the Grace (The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us all evermore. Amen)

The Lord Almighty grant us a quiet night and a perfect end...

Thanks niminy, Northumbria for me

Doublegloucester · 01/01/2017 21:41

Amen Smile

Dutchoma · 01/01/2017 21:54

I read through the Northumbria one and the Book of Common Prayer one. Such beautiful words and all the familiar prayers.
Thanks be to God

EddSimcox · 01/01/2017 21:54

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son:
and to the Holy Spirit;
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be:
world without end.
And the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all ever more.
Amen.

What a lovely peaceful and hopeful way to start 2017. Good night everyone.

IrnBruTortie · 01/01/2017 21:57

This is a great idea, thank you (and "Amen").

BroomstickOfLove · 01/01/2017 22:01

Amen.

And goodnight.

Madhairday · 01/01/2017 22:13

Save us, O Lord, while waking,
and guard us while sleeping,
that awake we may watch with Christ
and asleep may rest in peace.

Amen.

Lessstressedhemum · 01/01/2017 22:17

Amen and may the peace of Christ be with us all tonight and always.

niminypiminy · 01/01/2017 22:30

May the love of the Word made flesh enfold us,
his joy fill our lives,
his peace be in our hearts;
and the blessing of God be with us
this night and always.

Amen.

I think the CofE link in the OP is broken - at least it didn't open right for me. [[https://www.churchofengland.org/prayer-worship/worship/texts/daily2/night/compline.aspx]] is a different link in case anyone else needs it.

mirokarikovo · 01/01/2017 22:32

Oops that is even more broken. Try this

here

educatingarti · 01/01/2017 22:34

Amen.

Beautiful thank you for sharing
Hymn

Now that the daylight dies away,
By all thy grace and love,
Thee, Maker of the world, we pray
To watch our bed above.
Let dreams depart and phantoms fly,
The offspring of the night,
Keep us, like shrines, beneath thine eye,
Pure in our foe’s despite.
This grace on thy redeemed confer,
Father, co-equal Son,
And Holy Ghost, the Comforter,
Eternal Three in One.

Tuo · 01/01/2017 22:45

[A bit late. I dropped a big glass pan lid on the kitchen floor and have been picking up shards, which feels a bit like a metaphor for something! Anyway...]

Thank you for this niminy.

Look down, O Lord, from your heavenly throne, and
illumine this night with your celestial brightness; that by
night as by day your people may glorify your holy Name;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen

Helenluvsrob · 01/01/2017 22:52
  1. To thee before the close of day,
Creator of the world, we pray That, with thy wonted favour, thou Wouldst be our guard and keeper now.
  1. From all ill dreams defend our sight,
From fears and terrors of the night; Withhold from us our ghostly foe, That spot of sin we may not know.
  1. O Father, that we ask be done,
Through Jesus Christ, thine only Son, Who, with the Holy Ghost and thee, Doth live and reign eternally. Amen.

Tr. John Mason Neale, 1852, alt.

The almighty and merciful Lord, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
bless us and keep us. Amen.

bootygirl · 01/01/2017 23:02

nickelbabeinamanger · 03/01/2017 15:41

Lessstressedhemum · 09/01/2017 00:53

May the peace of all peace be ours this night. Amen

Toddlerteaplease · 15/01/2017 22:41

May He support us all the day long, till the shades lengthen and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over, and our work is done. Then in His mercy may He give us a safe lodging, and a holy rest and peace at the last.

John Henry Newman

nickelbabeinamanger · 15/01/2017 23:01

Amen

nickelbabeinamanger · 15/01/2017 23:03

Save us, O Lord, while waking,
and guard us while sleeping,
that awake we may watch with Christ
and asleep may rest in peace.
