Muslim MNetters: Is it customary to take a gift to an Aqiqah celebration if you already gave one at the baby shower?

I have a Muslim friend who loves celebrating every occasion to the max which is fine and great if that's what she wants. For her first DC she had a huge baby shower in 2 countries (she's from the abroad) and then after the child was born she had a huge Aqiqah party. People brought gifts to both so basically 2 gifts for the child. Now she's had another DC and again had a huge baby shower which I took a gift to. Now the Aqiqah party is happening and I'm going, and I'm going to have to take a gift again right?

I'm just a bit annoyed because it seems a bit grabby. I'm going to take a gift because it would just be rude not to but I'm wondering if this is how things are usually done?

I think she sounds grabby. Baby showers are not a muslim tradition.
Personally I would just attend the party, but not bother with gifts both times. Unless she also returns gifts to you on your occasions, in which case, you should either continue the exchange of gifts, or make a stand and say you cant afford it.

Irrespective of the faith or the occasion, I would take a gift to any occasion that was being hosted by someone else. It's only polite.

I think a baby board book would do the trick here. Not expensive, something that will be used over and over b
