I have a textbook on Buddhism you can borrow if you want, and an e-book of the dhammapada tyou can have a copy of if you CAT me.

otherwise I would start wth some of the writings of the Dalai Lama. he's very gifted as a writer.

Also worth visiting a retreat if you want to talk to the monks about life as a Buddhist- I know an excellent one on the SOuth Wales / England border (search for lam Rim) but I am sure there are plenty.
