Salam alaykum, if there are any out there.
Do you have any plans for Eid yet?
It's come around fast this year.

fuzzywuzzy ok, I didn't realise Arafat is on the 11th.
To be honest somehow I feel people have been ''beaten down'' mentally with all the bashing and all - it takes away the joy and the excitement we all grew up with.
It's like we are paranoid, like we are even scared of celebrating.
I was thinking of flying off to Andalucia and take the 12th off but now it's not going to be possible Sad

Totally agree frogmore, I was really nervous and worried thinking if Eid is on 11th people will say we are celebrating 9/11. Iv always reckoned saudi manipulates the but in this case im going to look the other way. I know it's difficult when eid is on a working day/school day.

Hi: in answer to your questions, I said that I didn't know about 1eid events, I don't go to the mosque often in the UK as I said below I find them culturally cliquey , and I was asking about what you guys do as gifts. In my family's culture, we give clothes to our own kids but it isn't a big thing. I didn't know whether other people did other things. I wanted to understand other people's points of views and habits. I hope that's ok.

Aren't we all on a journey towards a greater understanding of Islam?

Eid Mubarak alikum

fuzzywuzzy · 04/09/2016 17:21

Zaama, I think there's been crossed wires, responses vary depending on whether you're new to Islam so would need a longer explanation of what Eid involves.

We're going to go to Eid prayers, will be with 1Eid for us. Then home, might go out for dinner but as its on a Monday don't want to be out too late. We don't do gifts for this Eid as we have the sacrifices & its distribution, everyone gets new clothes for both eids.

I don't mind masjids, Im lucky to be near a few.

Remember the ummah in your Duas over the next few days inshallah

Zaama Salaam aleikum sister.

I didn't mean to come on harsh. I think I wanted to know how to reply to your queries. Sometimes people ask for the sake of wanting to understand about Islam (for all sorts of reasons).
May Allah continue to guide us towards the right path.

Fuzzywuzzy

Thanks for your reply.
Yes as you can tell I am a revert with little support in RL. I think I need to step up my journey and seek more information.

Frog more

It was harsh but fair :)

frogmore · 04/09/2016 17:50

Oh no Zaama, do you know I'm also a revert? Smile
So it's like a sheep trying to lead another sheep- only maybe I've been there a bit longer Lol!

You will be surprised how hard it can be especially if you are from a different culture (like I am), or country. It's different celebrating Eid back home in Africa compared to UK, but just be resilient and soldier on Smile

Eid is in Monday guys. Google chatting shit. I thought it was today as well.
