Broadening My Four Year Olds Horizon

Hello All,
I am hoping that someone may be able to give me some advice.
My daughter attends C of E primary school and is thoroughly taking on board the principle of God and the churches religion.
My husband and I are not practicing Christians, I am not christened into any religion.
I was hoping that someone may be able to recommend some books aimed at children, about other religions that I could look at with her.
I would like to introduce her to the fact that there are many other religions in the world.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I know telling her about all the other religions (in addition to the one she is already being taught as fact) is the fashionable thing to do but you could also try raising doubt and let her question the Christian dogma herself.

I see where you are coming from Cote but the problem we have is that she believes everything that she is told but doesn't seem to be getting much in the way of explanation.
For example she says "my god loves me" but can offer absolutely no explanation as to who or what god is.
So education feels like the best way forward. She was not sent to the school on a religious basis but on a basis that it is our catchment school.

"she says "my god loves me" but can offer absolutely no explanation as to who or what god is. "

When DD heard God stuff from others at around that age, I asked her questions:

Do you know if there really is a God? How?

Do you think your teacher has seen God?

Has anyone seen God?

Why do you think they believe that there is this God that they talk about?

Do you think people sometimes believe in things that are not true?

etc etc

This is a very sound argument for not allowing state-subsidised religiously affiliated schools - absolutely wrong in principle.

I get very angry when children go from one class where they learn that 2+2 is 4 to another where they are told that Jesus rose from the dead. Both are taught as fact and that is very wrong. It is dishonest.

I discussed this with my DD's school and they agreed that classes would have the preface "Christians believe....."

Under the national curriculum children should be taught about many different religious beliefs.
