Making Christian Friends

Hi,

I'm a Christian and my faith is a huge part of my life, The problem, if you can call it that, Is that I really don't have many Christian friends the same age or in the same position as me (busy working mum, with children & pets and a lot of Church commitments ect), the average age at the Church we Worship at is around 75, The Vicar is in her late 50's and I get on well with her, I have one friend the same age as me but she's very unreliable and never really wants to get together.

I do have other friends, but I sometimes find it very difficult, as they just don't 'get' my beliefs - why I pray, don't drink alcohol or do psychic evening's ect, in my experience others just seem to think my faith is odd and wonder why I'm part of it when I otherwise appear to be normal.

I really do feel like I need some friends with the same faith/beliefs as me, the problem is I don't know where to find them - I've looked online but most websites/forums seem to be U.S based.

Can anyone help?

Oh I feel for you. I have been there. Are you comfortable sharing broadly where you live? Maybe someone knows a church with an active social life near you. I find a lot of of larger congregations are happy for people to share in the social side and worship with their own congregations

Just seen your username are you still living as per your user name?

Is there a big city near you with a Churches Together mailing list? I go to a lot of christian events near by and have been able to make friends through that.

Thanks for the replies, unfortunately I'm no longer living in Central London, although I'm not too far away, I know if I did live in town I'd have lots of activities and fellowship opportunities nearby.

I do know a lovely girl in her early twenties, she is part of an evangelical community church and I'm thinking of asking her to introduce me to some of the congregation that are around the same age and have children, it's about 30 minutes away from me so that could be a possibility.

As much as I love our current Church, my children are the only ones at most communion services, It'd be great for them to meet and get to know other children at church too.

You don't have to be a member of only one church. Look for a local curch that advertises a monthly family friendly service or messy church. Find somewhere to go just once a month, even a bit further afield, where there are families. It's not disloyal to the church you love to spread your net wider too. We are after all One Church - all the Body of Christ.

Ah I'm in the same boat, op. I love my Christian friends in their 70s and 80s but would like younger Christian friends too, especially with children! Difficult, isn't it?!
