Hello all... bit of a newbie here...
I went to talk tonight by Doreen Virtue (she of the Angelic connection)about the new kids- indigo, crystal and rainbow.... don't suppose anyone else was there? I would love to chat about these ideas.

NO wasnt there unicorn but tell me it sounds intriguing. By the way this will definately make my office colleagues think I have become a hippy! theyu are thrilled as they are budhists and always thought I was a scornful punk!

unicorn · 05/05/2004 08:16

hello...very hard to do in a nutshell... but the premis is that kids today are different... for a reason... they are helping society evolve... Indigo's are the warriors (break down old systems) often misunderstood and sometimes diagnosed ADHD...crystal are the next generation- peace loving and sent to bring a new karma (I think)and sometimes diagnosed as autistic
rainbows are just coming into the world - all of them very sensitive very psychic etc....
Anyway it's very interesting..stems from a U.S bbok... 1999- check out Theindigochild.com website (or similar)....
Think you need to have an open mind to fully appreciate this though ...(the cynical bit of me says its a great money spinner idea for a series of books!!!)

Just on way out to work so this will be short and will talk later but I think we are in an evolutionary period and our kids are differetn. Maybe every generation has thought this. Somehow I do think we have some children with differences who do things in unusual and creative ways.

unicorn · 05/05/2004 23:19

Hi glitteryone, still mulling over that talk and having spoken to a few people we all seem to be of same opinion -there are changes going on...maybe we are all just too
closed minded to accept that children could be part of that shift?
We can't accept that perhaps we are wrong and that
children may be part of our evolution? (or is it just late and I am tired?

fairyfly · 05/05/2004 23:35

I think it's a constant in our lives and every generation, people tune in, people don't... life

unicorn · 05/05/2004 23:42

hi!
so kids have ever been thus?
Doreen V says kids have definately changed-
less accepting of the old rules and regulations which is why there are so many "problem" kids these days.... I just don't know.

OP posts:
glitterfairy · 06/05/2004 07:27

I think that is a good thing though. Did you see last nights programme on genius? Taking problem kids and treating them properly and wow what a difference

papillon · 06/05/2004 08:14

Hi Unicorn

I have never heard of Doreen Virtue - but have heard a little about new kids.

I think it is a really good thing if kids are less accepting of the old rules and regulations - IMO better to rebel than conform to a unbalanced system.

also Glitterfairy totally agree about properly treating kids with individual learning needs. A book I have read Peter Hoeg's novel Borderliners is a good example of how kids rebel regimes.

Pity that not all kids are taken care of that way, as rebellion does not have to counter-productive or destructive.

Also the world is a more open place these days as it is just not the kids who rebel the system, so they hear more and see more.

btw there were shamanic tribes who used to believe that cross eyed people could see both this world and the spirit world. And can´t recall properly but wasn´t there also an idea in the western world about kids who are handicapped being psychic and people were working with them and dolphins?

melsy · 06/05/2004 08:36

I also havent heard of Doreen Virtue . This is a very interesting subject , I was out lastnight with friends and we got talking about how different we are with our chidlren to the last 2 generations & how we have evolved in how we teach our children about the world and the goings on around us.I would like to hear more about this as it is fascinating.

Paps isnt this waht james redfield also calls emerging culture, Im sure he discussed the change happening. Yes the dolphin connection is wonderful, they beleieve that children who are handicapped or SN can interact on a diff level to us with Dolphins. And it really helps to develop their interactions with others. Do you think may be its because they are not affected by conservative/ straight world views and therfeore can be intouch with a higher self ??

melsy · 06/05/2004 08:37

Hi Unicorn and welcome to the board. Its great to have another angle dicussed and shared.

Soxwasher · 06/05/2004 08:38

what!!!! Is this for real!!! Hope you didn't pay for your tickets!! No offence but really!!

papillon · 06/05/2004 08:48

Melsy, I think that Glitterfairy explained it abit with the comment that creative kids or unusual kids do things in a different way. Helps open the kids up and they probably respond alot more to dolphins, cause they are fun etc. I don´t really know alot about it really.

I am abit sceptical I suppose - think it is more about creative learning. But with everything, who knows! And yes I agree it would be a little part of emerging culture happening there!

glitterfairy · 06/05/2004 08:56

I agree about emerging culture and think that we are in the middle of a revolution similar to the industrial one. This time though we are coping with communication as the breakthrough. the web has opened us up to communication on a whole new level. Nothing is private or personal secrets arent really that anymore either adn kids conmmuncaite on a whole new level. My kids email their friends and chat on messenger they have friends who they have never met but are close like us and to them the virtual is as real as the anything else. IMO this makes the spritiual and psychic world much more acceptable to them as they communicate without too many boundaries in every field. As I have said I am a healthy sceptic and believe that when we die that is it but my kids may not be like that at all.

melsy · 06/05/2004 09:15

It is certainly an interesting premis , but quite far out there. I just think there is some little kernal of interest. I think its more to do with the fact that SN children MAY be gifted in special ways.

unicorn · 06/05/2004 12:44

Hi all...
Papillion- Doreen V is very big in States/Oz and with people who are into Angels (another whole topic that one!!!
Glitterfairy- missed Genius prog- sounded v.interesting.
Melsy- It is a fascinating idea but you have to just have a very open mind- most people think,,,, Wierd
I for one think kids are generally different- would never have dreamed of speaking to my mum the way dd1 talks to me sometimes.... a lot more aware these days.. and confident I guess. But that's no bad thing is it?
Guess the problems arise when they don't conform to expected patterns of behaviour- and we have to find a reason so we label them something....
Indigo sounds nicer than problem/difficult/disturbed tho doesn't it?!

OP posts:
papillon · 06/05/2004 12:51

Indigo is a lovely word, much better. I think I read once about Indigo ultra violet sunrays. Supposed to very healing (if you scrap of the ozone burns these days)

unicorn · 06/05/2004 13:06

indigo- crystal and rainbow... all much nicer titles than the medics use... but I guess most people need the proper medical explanation for various behaviours.. more likely to get outside help if you accept that your child is acting against the accepted code of behaviou.. rather than believe h/she is part of society's evolutionary set up!!!!
my friend has dd1 who is 6- v.bright, v confrontational, but not doing so well at school- because she will not do things she regards as mundane/tedious.. ie stuff that doesn't engage her. Now is she special- or just a brat?

OP posts:
papillon · 06/05/2004 13:09

Definately not a brat. It is always the same story though... must stay within the boundaries easier to manage the masses that way. But not easy for those who do not fit in the biscuit cut out.

are you into Angels Unicorn? I really don´t know alot about them.. and they are just abstract ideas to me really.

unicorn · 06/05/2004 13:15

no not really into Angels as I don't know enough about that whole thing- but judging by the talk I went to a lot of people are. Guess there is something comforting in the idea that the Angels will help you if you call on them...
but again... must have an open mind otherwise it could be totally rubbished (but then again many things are!)
btw... why do people think that we have such a major problem with Adhd and autism these days? (maybe thats the special needs thread?)
Doreen V (I am not her agent!!!)says years ago her son probably would have been labelled- but 2o odd years ago those type of labels weren't so common and she is very relieved- she thinks today many many kids are being misdiagnosed and is v.angry about use of Ritalin.

unicorn · 06/05/2004 19:07

Have just checked out some of the websites re this
whole thing... they can be a bit wacky (US influence)but its amazing there are loads of people out there who think they have Indigo or crystal children... Rainbow is the very newest so you're ahead of your time Glitterfairy!!

OP posts:
glitterfairy · 06/05/2004 22:05

Always Unicorn!

unicorn · 06/05/2004 22:28

hi- here for a bit before I drop....

anybody else into wierdo/thinking out of the box
ideas?(advertising phrase methinks)... I actually am quite cynical/sceptical/ (was a journo in a former life- ie BK/...)
I don't think it hurts to listen to other ideas/theories call them what you will...which is probably why I am sticking with this thread...at least you all show a bit of an open mind....
why castigate something you don't understand? doesn't mean it's wrong does it?
hmmm...... controversial... (prob wrong strand again... i am a bit like that.. probably a name for me...in netty terms.. but i don't mean to be offensive or anything... I really am interested.

I'm very interested in watching last year's program on genius, as posted by glitterfairy on Thur 6th May 2004. If anyone by any chance has a copy, I'd really like to watch it if we can sort something out. I met someone this weekend who told me that I am a rainbow sister and I want to know how I can help. Watching this program would be an excellent start.
