ANY MUSLIM MUMS WEST SUSSEX?

My DH wants us to start looking for a house to buy in Southwick, preferably one round the corner to his Mum... My main fear about moving down there (and to be fair, I have put it off for 4 years!) is not knowing anyone except my in-laws. I have a 15 month old son (who said "Bye-bye" for the first time today - so proud). I would love to get to know some local Mums.

Hi Ameli

Wow, I had this message up for ages, thought no-one existed! Where abouts do you live? In Southwick? How old is/are your little one/s?

Do we have to be muslim? I'm just down the road in Chichester!

MABS · 26/11/2006 18:23

and i'm nearby, but not muslim

Babadoo · 27/11/2006 03:07

No of course you don't have to be Muslim! It would be nice knowing anyone in the area! What do you all make of West Sussex and where is the nicest places to live?

Well, I don't know Southwick very well, so I can't really comment on that area (although the Paulsgrove estate was the centre for all those anti-paedohile riots a few years ago - in fact anti paedophile, anti paediatrician, podiatrist - any word that sounded similar) so I'd be a bit wary of living there, given the news footage!

I love Chichester and the surrounding area. It's a nice, friendly city with good shops. But people who live on the Selsey peninsula south of Chi get a bit hacked off as there's only one main road, so traffic is awful.

I know Gosport house prices certainly weren't as bad as Chichester ones, so lots of people I used to work with in Chi lived in Gosport, and seemed to like it.

hello. Any muslim community here in chichester?

@Babadoo @Rutabooo

You may find this friendship and social group for muslim women in sussex and surrey useful.

I moved to Horsham a few years ago and found it hard to meet other muslim women. I just set this group up so it is fairly new but I am hoping slowly over time it will grow. The idea is to create events in the group for your local area such as coffee meet ups, dinners, walks, crafts etc and see who can join.

I have made some lovely non muslim friends in the area but at times like ramadan it would be nice to have a wider muslim social circle in Sussex and Surrey, so hence created the group. 😊
