Dreaming of toilets

Over the years Ive had various intense dreams of searching and walking around places. For some reason they also have me searching everywere for toilets . I go in and out of cubicals I cant use as they either dont have a loo or dont have a door and so it goes. This mornings feature film had me swooning over someone I sort of pined after for long time but I couldnt seem to get his attention and yet again I was walking around looking for a toilet. I went in room after room and then outside, crossed the road in a car the worng way against ongoing traffick and went walking back in to the buliding again. Near to waking in this dream I came apon a sort of helper support person for students (in this dream I was at University) and he told me to go in a certain room and go out through the Chrsitmas door ! He felt a bit like a spirit guide as he had a message that came to me "do not cause a stir" !!!

Lifts! Yes! My lifts are always in very high buildings and going really fast - and sometimes they go sideways as well as up and down. They jerk and jolt like chair-lifts and I can sometimes see out of them. They never seem to stop at the right floor.

Trinityrhino · 30/10/2006 09:12

maybe it's just casue you need the loo

southeastastra · 30/10/2006 09:27

my lift dreams are like that too, they're very scary. i had one at the weekend. i was stuck on a really high level and got into a lift that had hundreds of floors but never stopped at the one i wanted. i had to get out and find another one which was tiny. i don't like them much and have tons of them

The lift dream sounds like you feel out of control. You know where you want to be but the path to get there is confused and everything is just moving too fast.

You need to take time out to consider your options and plan how to get to where you want to be. Take your time over big decisions.

southeastastra · 30/10/2006 11:03

ooh thanks for that! makes sense

GoingQuietlyMad · 30/10/2006 11:11

i read that the toilet dream is when you need the loo in your sleep, which makes a lot of sense.

the dream is effectively your subconsious telling your body not to go the loo, because you are not in the 'right' place. hence all the searching, and not finding a loo.

does anyone else dream that they can fly?

I have the loo dream when I need the loo in RL, usually interrupting a very nice dream that never gets finished as I keep needing to find a loo. I also have the horrible need the loo but the public loos are awful, can't pee in the loo because it has a lid on and doors you can see over and under (a bit like saloon bar doors). I put the second dream down to feeling awkward or embarassed about something I have to do in public, maybe even something as routine as picking dd1 up from school.

Can i resurrect this thread to take a straw poll? i have this dirty loo dream a lot. Today i googled it, and found this explanation. It rings true, which slightly freaked me out. If you have recurrent dirty loo dreams, can you tell me whether the hidden emotion/situations getting messy thing is borne out by something in your life?

omg i have these exact same dreams!!! trying to find a toilet, toilet being overflowing/dirty/no door etc etc

samhain, you've hit the nail on the head i think.

ooh an answer at last. fab

thisisyesterday · 10/11/2009 20:20

and yes, the description in the link is true for me

LovelyDear · 10/11/2009 20:34

i find it so odd that such a specific dream - and yet one that i would find hard to have thought up - should be had by so many people.

Docbunches · 12/11/2009 21:27

OMG! I have the toilet dream as well - a lot! Usually it involves me searching for ages for a public toilet and then, after finding one, I can't use it because there's no privacy - but sometimes I sit on it anyway and frustratingly nothing comes out.

I realised years ago that this dream occurs when I badly need a wee during the night and then jolts me back into reality, ie, to make me get up and use the real toilet.

I thought I was the only one as well!

MaryAnnSingleton · 12/11/2009 21:35

I sometimes dream that the loo is in a kind of tent or at least a very public area where there is no privacy, and it's often not a loo at all but a chair which you have to wee on

Docbunches · 12/11/2009 21:35

And yes, there is an element of truth in that link.
