Anyone doing anything special? I am the only pagan in my family though looking for ideas to involve the DC and DH (he usually quite likes the special meals I prepare on the festivals)

I am already thinking about it in the past day ot two- with all this bitterly cold weather it is nice to think about the beginnings of new life.

I will be baking, lighting candles, having a big cheesy pasta bake, cleaning the house and pouring over seed catalogues.

Will take ds down the woods to see if the snowdrops are out and look for other signs of new life - already have catkins here. Will plant up some small pots of spring bulbs for the table and have a special dinner with a white theme - white linen, white food, lots of candles.

I love the feeling of hope and nature waking up :)

velvet- that sounds lovely- I love your idea of a white themed dinner- it sounds very magical.

bigbluestars · 23/01/2015 15:29

What food are you both serving?

VelvetGreen · 23/01/2015 16:28

Probably a soufflé with a potato gratin and celeriac salad, and some savoury muffins for ds who can't have dairy, followed by baked alaska (i just use swedish glacé instead of ice cream). It's not terribly exotic but faffy enough to make it a bit special!

Lovely Smile

that sounds lovely. Ive got a gorgeous chicken with venison stuffing for Imbolc meal, we do like our meat in this house ;) My day will be similar, a bit of a clean, walk down to our local park to look for signs of spring and some spring bulb planting.

Your chicken dish sounds amazing.

Not sure what I'm going to cook yet but I had a good tidy up in the garden at the weekend in preparation. It felt really good to get out and do something again! All the bulbs are coming up and we've got some early crocus already Smile
I will be getting up early and hopefully 'dressing' my statue (moon gazing hare) in the garden with herbs and lighting a candle to greet the dawn.

thankyou bigblue, I bought it from a local farm shop (I am awful at cooking, but rather good at baking, how did that work??)

Looking at the weather forecast it looks like we're in for more snow, bloomin typical really!

I hope everyone had a lovely Candlemass/Imbolg celebration. I still haven't seen any snowdrops but am looking hopefully whenever I'm outside.

VelvetGreen · 02/02/2015 17:10

Here's some snowdrops for WGC and anyone else who hasn't got any yet, from the woods this morning. Not exactly an abundance, but they're just starting to peek through. though now they are under the first proper snowfall that we had this afternoon.

Glad to say the soufflé rose to the occasion!
