Question for Hindus

A hindu friend has given me a statue of Ganesha to help us with our IVF embryo transfer which happened today.
She said that he shouldn't be kept in the bedroom but other than that didn't give me much more information.

I've got no way of talking to her for a while now.

What I would like to know is how I should care for him. Does he need to be in a certain location? Are there any rituals I should carry out?

As I'm sure you have gathered I am not Hindu, but this was such a thoughtful gift that I want to treat it with true respect.

Sorry I am not Hindu and don't really know the answer, however I am indian and thinking you are best to keep the statue in your lounge rather than your bedroom out of respect for the God in that you wouldn't be naked or having intercourse around it, just like you wouldn't do that in a church. Hope that makes sense?

Thank you for your answer there Bum. It makes sense (assuming I don't have sex or wander around naked in my front room).
