Philosophy or similar weekday evening classes, London

I'd like to try something out where I can listen to good lecturers and also meet like minded people.

A kind of every Wednesday night (or similar) set up would be great in Central London.

Does anyone know of such a thing that isn't part of a religious cult?

Is there a Philosophy in the Pub group nearby? Or you could try a humanist meeting, lots of philosophy and ethics chat there.

Or if you want real philosophy (not just humanism) you could try a Philosophy course at Birkbeck. There are lots of short courses, details here.

Both good suggestions. The Birkbeck one is almost perfect as it's modular and local and some evening classes fit my schedule. However, each module is 10 classes for £890! That's somewhat beyond my budget.

Yeeks! That's really expensive!

I think I've found a good way of finding ad hoc groups using meetup.com. It seems to have all sorts of interests driving meetings.

What's that place on Marylebone High St (was the music college)? I used to live around the corner and they were always advertising 'the meaning of life' etc courses.

There is this one set up by ex-Birkbeck people at Conway Hall, Holborn.
