healing - a gift or can you learn it?

I would so love to be able to heal esp. when loved ones are sick. So, is this a gift from God or can you 'learn' to heal? Anyone experience healing?

My mum is a spiritual healer. I do believe that it is a gift that all people have, some more powerfully than others. The learning is more about how to find the gift within yourself and how to bring out the energies and use them.

I don't believe it is a gift from God, but that is more to do with the fact that I am not a Christian and do not believe in a sole entity.

I think everyone has the ability to heal in some form but it is something you need to learn how to utilise. It is more about channiling energy than miracles.

I dont believe in God.

That's really interesting, thanks for your comments. I am a Christian (of a kind!) but don't believe that God heals in answer to prayer - o/wise what kind of God would I be believing in who only heals those in 'his club'. But I do believe in healing and think we have more abilities than many of us know.

So how could someone try to find their healing energy?

Meditation is a good start. You need to find your inner self. Something you can learn a lot from.

I think it's a gift some are born with, in varying degrees.

I think you can learn to enhance it if you've got it. Or not.

I'm a pagan, so I don't think healing or seeing is a gift from God per se.

IT depends what kind of healing you are aiming at... there are so many different ways to become a healer for example, taking a course to atone yourself with the universe energies and end up like a Master Reiki or... attend Med school.

I think all people have the gift to heal in a way or another, but there is a process to develop such skill.

Thank you all again. I have been thinking about meditation and Reiki for a while now, so this is affirming where I think I should be heading. Am in a bit of a mess atm though so maybe now isn't a good time?

Anyways, if you are interested in Reiki, visit some practitioners until you find one that you really want to learn from, then ask, she/he may be prepared to help you.
