I was brought up very strict catholic (big brother is training to be a priest, 5 siblings are altar servers, Mum is very involved in the Legion of Mary) I know very little about any other beliefs.

DD(5) has started asking me about other beliefs having just done Hanukkah at school, she knows more than I do, I would like to take her to see different services/masses and learn a bit about other beliefs, but I have no idea where to start or how to act if we go to other places of worship?

I don't want DD to grow up as ignorant as I am and I don't want to offend anyone, I'm guessing most christian churches we would be ok just turning up and asking questions after the service? I have no idea how that would work with a mosque, synagogue or Hindu temple? is it ok to just turn up? Like I said I don't want to offend anyone but I would rather ask stupid questions here than accidentally offend someone.

Most places are happy for you to look round and will tell you what to wear and even provide things, Sikh temples seem to have a large supply of orange bandannas.

Phone up and ask when you can go.

Be prepared to take shoes off and cover your head for some places.

As she's just studied Hanukka then why not start with the nearest synagogue?

My experience of various places of worship is usually through weddings. People are always (IME) happy to explain things and are not offended if you ask.
