I am starting at college for a year in Glasgow in October. Really looking forward to it - dh and I are both going full time for a year, it is something we have both wanted to do for a long time, and we have saved up so we can afford to take the year out to do it (2nd yr of BTh degree if we pass the entrance exams). He's going to work (is a doctor) doing locums to help support us through the year.

Just wondered if anyone else had done this, and how you got in with it. I'm really excited, it is such a privelidge!!

Wow - thats amazing! I wish you both all the best!

My course will be part time and mostly home study, with the odd study group and study day/weekend.

Thanks Mary.
What course are you doing? I've done a couple of distance learning courses from Aberdeen University Theology department over the last couple of years and really loved it. Nice to use my brain again!

Dh spent a year at an independent Bible school (attached to his former church) and loved it. I always fancied doing the Oasis course in Youth Work and theology - I think they do that at Glasgow Bible College (it's not called that anymore is it?). But ds and dd are here now so not ideal for doing a placement etc - but maybe one day?

What are you hoping to do afterwards? Sounds like full time Xian work might be beckoning if you're both doing it? Exciting stuff!

Are you in Glasgow? I'm about 45 mins away.

I've just been accepted for Reader training. You might notice my excitement on one or two threads on this board

Well done MaryBS. Reader training should be interesting, I have a friend who did it and loved it.

Bobsmum - the college is now International Christian College, or ICC. We are moving to Glasgow at the start of August in order to go full time there for the year - live in the remote NW at the moment. We have 3 kids of 6, 4, and 2 so it is going to be quite an interesting experience - luckily we have all the childcare worked out. If you are only 45 mins away from Glasgow then maybe I could eventually manage a MN meetup!
Full time work does beckon after - in Central America. Not 100% sure of details and timing as yet, but its a long hoped for goal. ICC does do a BTh with specialism in Youth work, as well as in CHildren's ministry, and Cross Cultural Studies, which I think I will be doing.
Its very exciting!
