I havent got time for a discussion about the subject matter atm but I am interested in your reason for saying either:

Yes - I'd be happy to read it. As a 'trying-to-be-a-good-Christian', I'd be interested in finding out more about Scientology and why someone would want to escape from it. I am led to believe it's a 'bad thing', but so many get sucked into it out of naivety. There must be more to it otherwise, perfectly sane people wouldn't go there?

Yes I'd read it- I would be interested in her perspective as someone brought up inside the scientology 'church', although obviously I use that word in its loosest possible sense.

I know a fair bit about them from law school (its lack of a God means it runs foul of the definition of a religion for tax reasons so there is lots of case law on it going into why they consider themselves a church). There is a lot of gossip on the web about what it involves but this seems to be written by an insider who would actually know and had many years experience.

Yes I would read it as I think perspectives on religion and lives within them are always of interest.

I would out of curiosity, not because I am/am not a Christian (which I am I suppose in a cultural sense). I think there are many other books that would be higher on my list though.

DF is engaged to a wonderful lady who has attended a Scientology church for many years. I found out a bit about it when they got engaged but decided that I would judge her on the content of her character when I met her and I'm glad I did. I read just enough to frighten me but have yet to see any evidence in the life of my DSMTB. She is loving and very connected with family, friends and the wider community. I'm sure it can all go wrong, most religious things can, but not always.

Yes I would read it though I've got a pile of stuff to read at the moment so it would wait its turn.

Im seriously tempted to email her and ask her. I have also been tempted to just send an email back quoting an appropriate bible verse but am resisting!

I'm currently unsure of my faith, but I was a very strict Christian up until recently, and I would have read that book. It's not a religious book, or something produced to try and convert people.

Maybe she just saw 'scientology' and got scared before looking at what the book actually was about. I know quite a few people who are members of my old faith who won't read anything about any other religion but their own, and then it would only be literature produced by their religion.

Not my kind of book, personally, but I don't think that's got anything to do with me being a Christian. I can't think of any reason why a Christian would not want to read it otherwise - specialy since it about someone's "harrowing escape" from another religion, rather than praising how great Scientology is. What is there in that to object to?

I'd be tempted to message back and ask why she would feel unable to buy a book from someone just because they happen to have that one listed. OTOH I'd be worried that anyone who bothered to message you in the first place about such a non-issue might be frankly strange. I mean, if she chose not to buy a book from you, she could just do that in silence. Why does she feel the faintest need to talk to you about the fact that she isn't going to buy a book from you?

Yes I'd read it. The day someone stops being willing to look at all kinds of viewpoints, even just out of interest, is the day they start morphing into a blinkered fundamentalist.
