New beginnings: a Christian prayer thread for summer

I have called this thread 'new beginnings', as it felt appropriate to lots of us at the moment, in a whole series of ways.

Since I started our last thread, back in April, we have welcomed Abigail Faith, daughter of HadALittleFaithBaby, and Hannah Faith, daughter of RoomForALittleOne. We thank God for their safe arrival and pray that He will watch over them and surround them with His love as they grow.

We pray for Kaykat and for CharlotteCollinsismovingon as they deal with the breakdown of their marriages. We pray not only for Kay, but also for her friend who has been providing her with excellent support and legal advice, for a clear way forward and a swift resolution. We pray for a clear and positive way forward also for Charlotte, and for her children to cope with this change in their lives with understanding and resilience.

We pray for PositiveAttitude as she settles back into life in the UK, and prepares for a period away from her DH and DD4. We pray, in particular, for her DD1, that she find a job in which she will feel supported and which will help her to feel happier and better able to cope with life. We also pray for happiness for PA's DD3, who has just got married, and for her DS in his new job. Finally we pray for the work of her DH in Cambodia, praying that the separation is bearable and that he continues to be able to make a real difference to people's lives over there.

We pray for BlueTinkerbell as she moves to a new home, looks for work, and continues to explore her vocation. May this move be a really positive new beginning for Blue and her family.

Likewise, we pray for niminypiminy who will begin ordination training in September.

And we pray for my church and diocese in the aftermath of some major structural changes. This is a new beginning that was imposed rather than chosen, but may it bring positive developments nonetheless.

We pray also for:

... amberlight, for her work raising awareness of autism in churches, and for this work to be welcomed and valued, rather than greeted with incomprehension, far less hostility;

... BlackEyedSusan, for all the many things which she has to juggle in her life as a single parent; in particular, we pray for her mum's health, for peaceful and restorative holidays, for order in her flat and with her paperwork, and for her DC; we pray especially that they both receive the support that they need from their school;

... BoxOfDelights, for her to receive a clear diagnosis and suitable treatment for her eye problem very soon;

... Don'tsteponthemomeraths, that her DS is able to access the support he needs and is valued and nurtured at school; for better support also for her DD; for better relationships at work; and for her nephew, who has suffered a burst appendix;

... DutchOma and Bob, for health for Bob and for good support (moral and practical) for Oma as she cares for him day by day; and for the ability to rest and breathe easily in this heat;

...JakeBullet as she deals with her uncle's ill-health and decision to move back to his native Switzerland. May he be well cared-for and peaceful there, and may Jake not miss him too much;

... MadHairDay, for health as she lives with chronic illness, and for strength as she mourns the death of a friend; we remember also MHD's friend and all who knew and loved her at this time;

We also pray for friends who haven't been around for a while... for Badvoc, for Gingercurl and her thesis, for Jan and her DD, for MaryBS, and for all those who lurk, for occasional visitors, and for those known to us who are in need of prayer, whether mentioned here or not.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayers.

an answer to prayer. the party is booked nd we have enough eople to come despite dd not having given out half the invitations.

PositiveAttitude · 07/10/2013 19:54

hi folks,

I had a visit from our friendly Hmm minister today! Shock He got far more than he bargained for!! Blush Both barrels about how rubbish my church family have been and how I felt about lots of things. I stayed very surprisingly calm - which I think helped my cause a great deal, rather than being an emotional wreck. I am now in the process of wording a very strongly worded email to the leadership team to confront some of the issues we discussed today. I am feeling quite positive about a few things and the minister did confirm a lot of my suspicions about people being against our decision and vetoeing anything proposed to help us. Could be an interesting few conversations with people over the coming few weeks. Please pray that I can be gracious and Godly in all my dealings with these people who have stabbed me in the back and hurt me beyond words!

BlackeyedSusan · 07/10/2013 22:08

ouch.

Wine

as I can not come up with anything more constructive

Dutchoma · 08/10/2013 07:38

I had a scare about my eye as I had stabbing pains in it. Came and went, felt gritty and tired. Hospital wanted me to come down but were 'very busy' so could not guarantee I would be home by dinner time.
So I rang the optician's who gave me a very prompt appointment, checked it all out and everything is absolutely fine. They were very impressed with how much more I could see and very confident that it would all be worth it in the end. They gave me some drops to ease the dryness and they have been a comfort.

Praise the Lord.

MaryBS · 08/10/2013 08:19

Thanks TUO for your prayers. I answer to either Reader or LLM, I tend to use Reader amongst church people as LLM is such a mouthful! DS seems to be getting on better on the bus, thank God.

Prayers for all here, bit tired after DD's birthday yesterday.

BlackeyedSusan · 08/10/2013 12:43

aaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh dd has lost her new named tie in school. I will be gutted if it is not returned and in good condition.

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 08/10/2013 18:23

My darling SIL has had a show at 28 weeks and some plug has come away. She's so scared and in hospital for monitoring. She had my nephew at 31 weeks and he's now a bouncing boy in Nursery. There's no rhyme or reason they can find to why he was born prem and she was so hoping for a full term baby this time. She hasn't even had her baby shower/ prayer night yet. Please pray this baby stays put until cooked a lot better and that SIL has peace Sad

Whoops! 2 for the price of 1 Blush

I'm on a train and reception came and went. Sorry. I didn't think it had posted first time.

Dutchoma · 08/10/2013 20:30

Never mind that, Mome praying for your darling sister-in-law and for her unborn baby.

HadALittleFaith · 08/10/2013 21:06

Better twice than miss it! :) Praying for that baby to stay put!

Praying through....lifting up TunnocksTeaCake as the night draws in.

DO I'm glad you got seen promptly and it was ok.

BES praying that the tie turns up and for you and your family.

PA always tough when you're standing by what you believe The Lord is telling you. Much, much tougher when your church family don't support that! Praying for that situation. I'm glad there are some positives.

I'm feeling a bit better. I've been out for a walk with Faithlet most days whilst the weather's been good. I've also got on the waiting list for counselling and am reading a book on positivity in the mean time (I'm pleased that today I challenged a negative thought pattern and stopped it). Faithlet has gone to sleep much more easily and earlier the two nights...praying it sticks!

BlackeyedSusan · 08/10/2013 21:54

thanks faith. i think it is hormone time again.

oh and I think I may have given dd an allergen. a disturbed night for me then, giving piriton every four hours.

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 08/10/2013 22:22

Thanks Faith & Oma.

So busy here!

Lovely mans court case is finally over! It sounds like he doesn't think it's worth the paper it's written on tbh but at least it's over. 18 months! Mad. He's left his job as well. So he's at a cross roads really. We're planning to catch up soon.

Yes, it's funny, but I felt that too. We shouldn't really be surprised that prayer works, though, should we?
