Hello,

I have attended church on and off since i was a child. I was married in 'my' church and had my daughter baptised there. We have since had a son and there is a new minister. He is stricter than the previous one and as i am not officially a member of the church he would like one or both of my husband and I to become a member prior to agreeing to baptise my son. This wasn't an issue before and I am quite happy to become a member but wondered what happened and what the process would entail? He said that as the members classes have already ran this year that we could just have a conversation however I am worried about what he might ask. Silly I know! Can anyone offer advice? We are Church of Scotland if that helps!

Does he have a vestry hour where you can go and have a chat with him?

I imagine that he will be keen to know that you can make baptismal promises on behalf of your child.
