Crystal - "Starter Pack"

I am interested in crystals and want to begin to understand their benefits and to start using them ....

IS there a "starter Pack" that I should use ....

I thought you must know lots about crystals, since your name is crystaltips!

do you mean a book or a small selection of crystals? From what I know of stones and crystals is that you can warm them in your hand and see if they respond. Visual contact is a good way to be attracted to stones.

A basic set of crystals for chakra working is a good start.

They can vary, but most people choose them by colour so for example:

Red Jasper, Orange Carnelian, Yellow Jasper, Green Aventurine, Blue Lace Agate, Sodalite, Snow Quartz

Paps - alas no! The derivative of my name is much more crass ... when I was little - my favourite TV program was .... ( Yup you've guessed it ) Crystaltips and Alistair

WHich is the recomended method for crystal cleansing .... for newbies ??

Lots of methods.

Some crystals cannot go in water so you have to be careful. The list I gave you earlier though are all ok to be 'washed'.

Sun or Moon Bless (leave in the light for a minimum of 12 hours).

Wash in Sun or Moon blessed water.

Bury in the ground to Earth Bless.

Smudge them - pass them through the smoke of a smudge stick.

Personally I moon bless mine, I have an alter in my garden and do a lot of moon work.

I have bought some crystals and read in a book that keeping a quartz crystal with the others is enough to cleanse. Is this true? I picked some up before realizing what crystals were and am not sure what they are. Is this enough? Also been told that if I place a crystal over my Angel cards that it will keep them cleared of negative energies

If you have a large enough piece of quartz then yes, but you would in turn still have to cleanse the quartz itself occasionally to rid it of negativity.

If you want a piece of crystal to keep in your collecting specifically for cleansing the others, try Citrine or Kyanite.

The same goes for your Angel cards. Citrine is lovely for cleansing or try Amethyst to clear negativity.

Hi St G. I too was wondering this. I bought a few recently a Citrine plus, a bloodstone, a rose quartz, a rhodoylite, nd a few others and am just wondering how to (a) cleanse them and (b) how to acivate them (c) use them

I do love them and my smallest child calls them my "stones" but would just love to know how to use them
