Nice bible reading for a funeral

Looking for some inspiration from you lovely Mumsnetters. I'm looking for a bible reading/verse which could be read out at a very small,intimate, funeral service. The family don't want the Lord's Prayer. Some I have thought of is John 6 35-40, 1 Corinthians 13 4-8, Ecclesiastes 3 1-8. Any suggestions would be appreciated

Psalm 23, obvious but in my opinion beautiful.

John 14:1-14

1 John 4 7-12
Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love. God?s love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might live through him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. Beloved, since God loved us so much, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God lives in us, and his love is perfected in us.

Many thanks for your replies. Nickname, yes I did think about the 23 Psalm but we are all going to say it out loud together so it's a bit long. Polly that is a bit long too but we could adapt it a wee bit to suit. I do like your offering Greenheart, I think that could be nice and it's a nice length. I'll put some suggestions to the family and see what they would like.

Depending on how much you want to say, you could stop after verse 4, or continue for all of it...

Ecclesiastes 3
