Hi, I fancy doing a course in this. Would be very interested to hear from anyone who has successfully completed a course or had lifecoaching themselves, please. Thanks!

I saw that and thought hmmm, funny it's popped up here ... Just downloaded a book that is supposed to be along those lines . I am particularly interested in the organisational emphasis of the book which should appeal to crescentmoon. So off I go to a remote place in the Forrest with no Internet access to read. Will report back in a week.

Yes please do Mondrian! Crescentmoon I think it is quite a new thing and am not sure whether it would be better to do this than counselling. I think many people need support to use their time wisely - we lead such busy lives but I am sure waste an awful lot of time as well, especially on the internet in my case! I am always wary of testimonials on websites, I could always get my Aunty to write one for me couldn't I? I suppose a reputable person would always give you an initial session or at least an initial consultation for nothing? If I do the training I'll let you know!

Have you read the chimp paradox, imo a must read for anyone interested in overcoming our inner demons/bad habits.

The road less travelled by Scott Peck. Its actually 25yrs old so should be interesting to read on the back of chimp paradox which is pretty recent ... as both are written by psychologists.

I have downloaded an ebook from the library, Lifecoaching for Dummies. Just wanted to see what kind of thing is out there. I feel though that the main benefit of lifecoaching is bouncing ideas off someone else and maybe having your eyes opened to things you would not have thought of yourself. I have done a lot of work on time management and that is a good place to start I think if you are struggling with a busy life, as we all do at times.

I actually started Life Coaching training (did not complete for various reasons, mainly v difficult to make a living from without high level corporate connections) The principles are interesting & I use the techniques surreptitiously on my staff - lots of active listening, open-ended questions, etc. Key text is "Time To Think".
Life coaches can vary in quality. I DIY it, and every couple of years complete Jenny Ditzler's "Your Best Year Yet". I set aside a weekend day & go through the goal setting exercises. I highly recommend this& find it very effective.
