I'm very worried about a young lad that's been missing since last Friday. No word to work apart from two different callers that have said 'the church will look after it/him'

situation he is in or him ...not clear I'm afraid but doesn't sound C of E or Catholic

Weird, it could be anything, he may have had an accident and his lovely congregation is rallying around. Don't HR have an emergency contact for him?

No, he had an accident not long ago and wouldn't let anyone take him 'home'.
