I feel the need very strongly for something in my life, something that I am missing and I crave. I don't know what it is, but I sense I need to have more peace and balance. But I don't know where to start? Can you try religion on for size? Go shopping for it? I've never been into group/sharing type activity and down want to become and active member of something is you know what I mean! Where do you look/go for some spitituality? Just wondering why you do what you do and how you ended up there?

I totally know what you mean carocaro. I think I had a bit of a spiritual hole in my life for a long time. I now attend a methodist church and am gradually building up faith and it definitely feels like the right thing. I'd like to encourage you to go "religion-shopping" and not be afraid to ask questions!

I tried the Quakers for a bit - they have no specific doctrine or set of beliefs. They believe everyone can have access to God and have no hierarchy in their churches and their meetings consist of a lot of silence! It appealed in theory to me, but in practise I just didn't get on with it.

My mum goes to a Unitarian church which is similar to Quakers in that I don't think there is any specific doctrine. I think at their meetings you might hear reading from different religious texts or even scientific discussions.

I ended up going to the local methodist church out of convenience (short walk from home, my kids like it there etc) and I'm not sure I always agree with the Christian take on things. But I have made some amazing friends who are tolerant of my doubts and have been more inspired by the life of Christ than I ever thought I would be! Good luck with your search.
