I feel so sorry that you are going through such a tough time hearts. I read your post earlier and I've been thinking about you ever since then xxx.
I've been trying to put into words what I believe to try to help you, part of me worries about this because as Tommy says, you are very recently bereaved and you still need time to come to terms with it. I'm therefore wary that I may say something that upsets you, makes you feel uncomfortable or which opens up wounds that are only just starting to heal.
However, you have asked how other people feel about the subject, so I will briefly try to tell you what I sincerely believe.
I believe that God is real. I also believe that the path the human race is going down now is not at all what He intended but it needs to run it's course so He can prove that mankind cannot live independently of Him (this includes dying, which was brought about because of what Adam & Eve did). I also believe that the Bible is inspired of God, man wrote it but God inspired man to write it.
The Bible to me is very much alive and gives very good advice on all aspects of life, it also has teachings regarding death and what will happen to the living and the dead in the future. Goodness this post is long

I could go on for quite a while about this. I could quote you a couple of scriptures which explain more about what I've just said. I don't want to upset you at all (or anyone else for that matter, religion is such a personal thing) so if you like, you can e-mail me for a chat. Whatever you want, or we can just leave it at this.
