I think I have a vague idea but will wait for it to be confirmed incase it makes me look a fool.

St George, Easter moves around because it is linked to the Jewish Passover, which in turn depends on the moon's cycle.

It was a tongue in cheek comment CarolinaMoon.

I know the link to the Passover, but nevertheless it still irritates me when Christians proclaim Easter to be all about the Resurrection, which surely could not/should not be a moveable date.

Like I said, a convenient excuse to hijack our festival Smile

CarolinaMoon · 28/03/2006 18:09

Ah, I see Smile.

I guess you'd lose the significance of the last supper (being the Passover meal) if it was a fixed feastday. And it's not like we know the actual date the Resurrection happened (can't believe I just typed that Grin).

It would be so much nicer to have a proper springtime festival instead of all this surreptitious sneaking about with Cadbury's creme eggs.

What do you do to celebrate st george? (got visions of you in something white and floaty, dancing around...)

SaintGeorge · 28/03/2006 18:30

White and floaty yes, dancing no unless very drunk Grin.

I work as a solitary so I usually have a private celebration which involves a bonfire near my altar in the garden, casting a circle and planting 3 seeds to signify new life. Each seed is blessed with a hope for the future year: 1 for my private life, 1 for my magical work and 1 for the community as a whole.

Yes, roasted egg at the Seder. So not remotely Christian. New life and all that, I think.
