Jehovah's Witnesses...any JW's about?

I am Catholic (I say this at the outset), I am not looking to change from my current church or faith.

A couple of JW's visit the area regularly and tbh because I have got fed up of seeing people just slam doors in their faces I have started talking to them. Obviously they have a mission to share their message and I am happy to listen to that message while accepting that it is not for me.

I don't want to waste their time however.

The nice lady who calls really wants to come in and look through the Bible with me. Now I am aware that our Bibles differ but I feel the basic message is the same in that the greatest commandment is to love one another.

On the other hand I cannot accept some of their principles and would not join them.

I am happy to listen to them and to chat to them though.

Is this okay?
I am not wanting to waste their time in thinking they have a potential new recruit because they haven't. I simply want them to be able to fulfill their quota for seeing people and sharing their message.

S0 - any JW's here......am I going to be wasting their time? Or is the goal simply to share their message which they can do easily with me?

I am not a JW but am in a similar position to you in that I have a couple who come and visit me regularly.

To be honest I don't see it as being a waste of time. They are very passionate about what they do and I do like talking to them about Christianity even though we have different ideas. I also think its a good time to share my ideas with them.

Their bible knowledge is amazing and I always find our discussions fascinating. They are still keen for me to change my ideas but I'm lucky in that they are respectful and not pushy.

If you really feel like you are getting nothing out of your discussions with them then I would make it clear that you have made your mind up and would prefer them not to visit, otherwise I just use it as a time to spend looking at God's word.

Haha not sure Catholics are best people to discuss Jehovahs beliefs!

Well as long as it's bible study and not little yellow book study, it should be ok.

If they think it's a waste of time they won't come.

I've invited JWs back to my house on two occasions, having debated with them on the doorstep first. They never came, so I sent my questions to the Assembly Hall head - and he didn't reply either, although I know he got my questions.

A moment of personal triumph was when one whispered to the other on my doorstep "Don't use scripture, Keith - he knows the bible"

Anyway - if they think it's a waste of their time, they won't come, so don't worry. I do wonder what possible substance there could be with two parties exchanging ideas on intangibles, but whatever floats your boat :)
