Can anyone recommend a Christian community retreat-type thing for an 18-year-old on a gap year?

Something like this JVC one, only shorter term - maybe from a week to say three months.

It would ideally involve living as a community, and spiritual/personal development.

We are C of E, but I don't think denomination should matter?

Lee Abbey in North Devon gets my vote, members of our youth club have been there as members of the community.

For a year long experience New Wine has a good scheme but it's not retreat.

Iona good, friend of mine is their youth coordinator.
Also the Northumbria Community - which we're getting involved with- is great and runs guided and individual retreats.
