Has anyone completed a CCRS (Catholic Certificate in Religious Studies)?

Am considering completing the online CCRS.

I understand it is predominantly a course completed by teachers but I am currently on ML and as the RCIA co-ordinator and one of the RCIA catechists within our parish, I thought it would be something that I would benefit from and find interesting.

I was going to speak with our parish Deacon (who is also a teacher) to get his perspective as I'm sure he will have completed it, but he is away in Lourdes at the moment.

Any thoughts?

Hi SESthebrave, I am sorry I do not know anything about the CCRS but from what you say it sounds like something you would enjoy and benefit from. I am going to start RCIA classes in September and wondered if you could tell me anything about RCIA classes and what I can expect. I am really looking forward to starting the RCIA. I hope you manage to find out more about CCRS and that you are enjoying ML. Good luck.

Hi tacal, I did the RICA last year, it was fantastic, really informal and friendly. We covered loads of Catholic stuff (obviously) but had loads of discussions about other faiths too.

Hi tacal and colouringIn :)

tacal - our sessions sound v similar to what ColouringIn has described. No pressure and v informal. I always stress to our enquirers that there is no obligation to decide to become a Catholic that we are there to help support them on their journey and answer questions about Christianity and Catholicism. We have a topic to cover each week but it's quite fluid.

I actually came through RCIA myself as an enquirer about 15yrs ago and love it so much that they've bit been able to get rid of me!

If you have any more questions, just ask away :)

Thank you very much SES and Coulouringin. I am looking forward to the RCIA classes even more now.

SES - do you think you will do the CCRS?
