A few christenings coming up and I was looking for ideas that you've seen/given/received that you thought were a bit different or meaningful? And would you be offended if your child received a home made gift? Any ideas welcome!

I had lots of lovely presents when DS was Baptised 5 years ago. Some were the usual silver curl boxes, tooth boxes etc. (now all wrapped in tissue paper and stored in a cupboard) and some other stuff. My favourite was Winnie the Pooh letters that spelt his name. They are on a shelf in his bedroom.

A friend glass-painted a tea-light holder with his name and date of Baptism. That's on the shelf in his bedroom too. As a knitter/crocheter/embroiderer I really value homemade gifts. They show the effort put in to making something individual. These days I give homemade keepsake boxes unless asked for something specific by the parents.

DH's goddaughter got a premium bond from us but now I think the minimum purchase is £100.
