The Parable of the Paralysed Man - help please!

Great, of all the family services - mothers day, the pet service, christmas etc - I get this one. I have to organise it and the Rev Henry has no idea what to do to make it 'fun' for the family.

Help? I don't really even 'get' the parable - am ill and pg and need it all spoonfed to me.

I've just googled for you and couldn't find anything simple, sorry! There is a parables.com but they are like Amazon for religion and all the 'simple parable explanations' came up with v complicated looking sites! Good luck.

Or you could wrap your dh in bandages, wheel him into the church and then, erm, kick him about a bit whilst he's all helpless!

Do you mean parable? I can think of the miracle of the paralysed man (being lowered through the roof) but my mind's gone blank on the parable

we did a great game at our SU group recenlty where the kids in 4 teams had to stuff men's clothes with newpaper and sellotape him togehter. Balloon for head.

Then put men on blankets and had a race carrying them from one end of hall to other.

Not sure how that'd go down in church, but you could stuff a man in advance maybe and get kids to act out story??

At ds and dd's sunday school they made men with jointed arms and legs, then they coloured them and made them dance when Jesus healed him. It's the one where the friends can't get near Jesus because there are too many people so they lower him down on a stretcher through the roof and Jesus says 'Take up your bed and walk'.

Could you do puppets? I'm thinking marionette style - lower one down from the pulpit and then get it to dance?

dd2 did this in Sunday School last week. Think they acted out the story and then made the little puppets that tortoiseshell described.

There is a load of stuff here although you have to hunt through a bit (its the ones about "the paralytic" and "man let through the roof"). Colouring sheets and ideas.
