I think you need to be quite careful about separating out what is known about the first historical references to druids (by the Romans), and what is the culture around druidism now.

The Roman state was tolerant to the large extent of the indigenous religions of their conquered territories, but rooted out druids in Britain in the first century AD (as well as persecuting Jews in Palestine in the 1st and 2nd centuries), and the common thread may well be the perception by the Romans of political subservsion.

I woukd say, read some decent archaeological texts, beware of books that lazily collate druids with 'celts', and also be aware that when Julius Caesar wrote of British druids he had his own agenda.

Oh, and Stonehenge and its environs pre-date the first known references to druids by over two thousand years.

Oh and there is no evidence that there is any evidence that women were not druids.

...Which means that women could have been druids in the late British Iron Age.

Or you can get in touch with the modern order of Bards, Ovates and Druids and learn about nature worship, druid spirituality and the love of land, sea, sky and earth.

Thank you so much for all your help, my parents land was owned by the druids, and every month they paid ground rent to the modern order, i have always been drawn to them, but never knew where to start, so again thank you.
