Lenten abstinence

I don't know if this is an etiquette thing or a religion question...

I want to give a gift of a bottle of wine to an Anglo-catholic, who I know had given up alcohol for Lent.

Would it be considered rude of me to give it to them on Monday? (I don't know when I will next see them.)

No, just tell them it's intended for after Lent Smile

Is it for my husband?!

He's not drunk any alcohol all Lent (even abstaining on Sundays!) and I think if you gave him a bottle just now he'd probably sob hysterically.

We have just moved house though and he's in flat pack hell, and rather wishing he'd given up IKEA instead I think!
