Choosing MY godparents

Hello. I am shortly to be christened and confirmed (better late than never!) and have been told that I need to choose two godparents -help! I don't actually know many people who would be willing/able to do this. I have chosen one lady from our church but I don't know any of the men very well. Can I choose my husband? I think he would be a good candidate and I have been told it is allowed but is it a bit weird to have your husband as your godfather? Any advice welcome. Thanks.

I was confirmed as an adult and my dh was my sponsor - made absolute sense to me as we support each other in our faith.

I think that the other adults who were baptised and confirmed at the same time officially had sponsors, rather than Godparents and a few of them had their husbands/wives or in-laws.

Is this happening over the Easter weekend?

Thanks - it is the weekend after Easter.

I honestly think that it is ok to go ask your dh - far better than asking someone else just for the sake of it.

Congratulations!

Why not, it sounds lovely. And it's quite usual on the continent to have older siblings as godparents so why not extend this.

Thanks!

since even parents can be godparents according to my leaflet from c of e i would think so.

As an adult you don't have a godparents as such. The person you chose is a sponser. I think your dh would be a good choice.
