Landing Light goes off at night

after ds in bed....not flickering (not a connection issue) or from heat as left it on in day to see.

Ds 7 was hearing talking and then buzzing a few times upstairs which started the need to leave light on at night. DS isn't turning it off as bedroom above living room and sounds like a baby elephant! I also asked ds this evening did he turn light off and I was told 'no'.

It doesn't go off straight away usually at least 2 hrs later..I go to bed at 1 am usually and it is off again tonight!

Electrician? (house 25 yrs okd and new motherboard 5 yrs ago)

swap bulb with an other light known to be ok , that would eliminate (if light stays on) elec supply/fittings .If a bulb is buzzing it"s usually on it"s way "out."worth a try?

Sounds like a loose electrical connection. Check the switch connection and the connections in the light and a new bulb.

Logically thinking if there is some supernatural entity trying to let you know it is there and it can affect the known physical world such as turning a light off then why can't it write a letter and leave it out for you. It could just write something like 'hi, don't want to freak you out but I am xyz living in the spirit world and want to tell you this; blah blah blah'? Seriously though, think about it.

There are no such things as ghosts - there will be a plausable explanation.

I think it might be the lampshade is to heavy and just happened to start pulling the connection then in last few weeks?

Not like Black Woman film then

I always blame the supernatural first maybe it's because of my lack of knowledge of DIY is more the case Hmm (ok refusal to learn about DIY Grin)

is it an old-fashioned filament bulb, or an energy saving bulb (CFL)?

filament bulbs get very hot, and in a pendant, will overheat the lampholder which is positioned above to take maximum heat. This makes the plastic crack in time.

If you are buying a new CFL, a 20W or 22W will emit about as much light as an old 100W pearl. You can get them with glass envelope to look like a pearl bulb and reduce the glare.
