I hae just bought a book on Karma ... I am finding it very interesting ... but also a bit worrying as I feel that I have a lot of making up to do

What do you think ????

I think that as long as you aren't doing anything deliberately bad then you should be fine with your karma.

i always used to think maybe true, that what you give you get returned.but after my 19 month old niece died in april 05, i cant anymore. her mummy and daddy have done nothing to deserve this. nor she for that matter.

i agree i was a strong believer in karma untill recently, but things are so bad i cant believe in it anymore as ive always tried to be kind

I think karma exists and that random bad things happen to people

fostermum · 18/01/2006 18:35

i cant understand a system that when people are cheating lieing horrible people every thing good happens for them and some of the kindest gentleset people i know have had nothing all there lives but crap given to them,if there is a god he must be sick

Hmmmm, 3/4 through Buddhism at college at the mo and it does appeal to me.

You have to get NO Karma, right? So nothing good and nothing bad- every good must have been negated and vice versa.

Personally, i think to live your life as if karma exists is a wise and lovely decision, one I have taken but rarely live up to if I am honest. Yes bad things happen, whether you assign that to getting rid of accrued karma is your choice, but if we all ive by Karma then how much happier would we all be? And Big rivers start with a trickle....

i definitely believe in Karma. what comes around, goes around.

nooka · 18/01/2006 22:57

If you mean in terms of past lives, then definitely not. If you mean in terms of people getting what they deserve then not really - after all many nice people have sad things happen to them, and some really unpleasant people have easy lives. But I do think that much of what happens to us in life is down to the consequences of our own actions (ie working hard, or taking chances, being nice to people and finding that they are nice to us in return etc etc)

well i do believe in karma, but then there are many things that can affect your karma such as outside influences..... for example (gawd forbid) your cat gets run over, thats outside influence because it was not directly your fault, perhaps might be the person's karma that was driving the car, or just your cats karma..... look into it too much and it could get silly. I feel just live your life having respect for other life and treat others as you would want to be treated.... its a start, and i find myself, that i feel 'right' doing it.... but I'm not perfect....

You say that you feel you have a lot of making up to do.... everything happens for a reason. I believe (metaphorically speaking) that its not because you're a bad person and you deserve it, but because we are ultimately here to learn 'lifes lessons', to help our spiritual selves grow in order to assend to the next plain of existance, we have to experience every possible emotion under the sun before that happens.... sometimes more than once, just so that we 'get it'....

If something terrible has happened to you, please don't beat yourself up about it, not everything is just down to karma hon!

I hope you find sense in my post
